Charities Review Council, is an organization that helps people who support charities with financial donations, has published a revised accountability standards for nonprofits. In addition, they have launched a new web tool to help learn about compliance with the new standards.
The new standards address charity performance in the areas of public disclosure, governance, financial activity and fundraising, and to reflect economic, demographic, legal and societal changes. The new standards also go into detail in regards to Form 990 that many nonprofits must file with the IRS.
So far, about 400 nonprofits have voluntarily participated in the online review web application created by the Charities Review Council.
